Its been a fair while coming but here it is, PAK-9 AVS 5!
Featuring - Jheriko - UnConeD - Tuggummi - Frames of Reality There are a heck of a lot of resources included with the pack, I tried to check they are all there but its possible i missed one or two. Now some bad news, this is probably the last AVS pack I'm going to make; no I'm not "quitting" AVS, I'll probably keep releasing presets, but AVS is dying (dont give me that look, you know it is). Technical presets are becoming an increasing chore to make, I find myself running out of space to code, writing external programs to hack around AVS's limitations and using almost exclusively third party APE's stuffed into AVS's creaky interface. It becomes tiresome, in a way its still fun but not when you want to make a lot of presets. In addition when you spend days making a preset you really want to get it out there for people to see and enjoy, so thats what I will probably do in future. Thats about it I guess, enjoy the pack * Update - fixed eruption remix bug * * Update - Changed installer * * Update - included gvm resource for avs blox (I knew I would forget one ^^) * * Update - Changed installer again (Fixed Install Directory & Better Compression - Thanks Jan) * Daily DeviationGiven 2005-09-04PAK-9 AVS 5 by ~pak-9 shows you some nice things, you thought that weren't possible in AVS. Impressive collection of presets, Winamp required to watch these! (Featured by `yathosho) |

Thx for the comment (The avs blox problem is a know bug (see the 2nd comment) with global variables manager)
it's edited, got rid of useless sentences, no more wa.com and porn references included.
<frames> damn you pak the intro is.......oh fuck
<
<frames> and the FPS is reasonable too...my jaw is slightly dropping
<
<frames> brb just have to eat sumthin
(...)
<framey> so pak lets move on to preset 2
<framey> nebula is great, but for some reason winamp died after i switched to it, but it's still pretty and soothing
<
<framey> time probe is nicely executed, but it's a bit overused and imo you could've made the starfield a bit prettier
<
<framey> yeah
<
<framey> just add some fade or sumthin, it's too static and you can make out where the "box" of starfield ends
<framey> fabric 3 is pure greatness tho, but it would be better with a white background
<
<
<framey> CWT is still slow and i dont like the colors :/
<framey> CWT 2 is way better
<framey> darkmatter is very funkey
<framey> elementary is good for what it is and i like it for that
<framey> pak ephemeral is just too good :')
<framey> beanies is pure fun
<framey> shooting star is a bit animeish, but it's still funkey
<framey> avs block is still avsome
<
<
<framey> droplets is fine, but you know my opinion about it
<
<framey> 4 i guess
<framey> jet wash is still slow and fuck-you-tech-freakish, which is good in your case
<framey> 45 remix is good, but it would be cool if the upper window would move or mutate, i'm sure you could've pull that off
<framey> bombs away is quite good
<framey> hmmm divisions is included?
<
<framey> i guess i'll have to edit it for my remix pack then
<
<framey> to make it a bit different
<framey> pandora collab is still a bit fishy to me
<UnConeD> you just don't appreciate the greatness of that preset

(from a conversation that happened 2 days earlier :
<frames> dont really like the pandora remix, looks crappy with intense music
<
<frames> not really, just another marble crayony remix
<
<frames> yeayea
<frames> i couldnt give two shits about shading y'know
<frames> it may be technically great, but this trail idea is a bit overused. even i did a remix like that and atleast that wobbled
<
<frames> the last FX list is not important
<
<frames> heh. just blur. and a slight too much imo
<
<frames> the last convo is totally useless)

<
<UnConeD> yes
<UnConeD> it's so solid it's almost a whole new state of matter
<framey> the pandora remix is still a cliché
<framey>
<framey> it may be solid and ohmewgawdsobackfaceeculled or whatever it's still a nemo ripoff
<
<framey> a bit
<framey> wow this preset is AMAZING...oops it's my remix
<framey> time probe rmx is funkey, the starfield is better than the original
<framey> tugg's rmx is nice but the colors are a bit dodgy (but that's just my taste)
<framey> droplets remix is great, it's just very-very nice
<
<framey> ...and i guess that's all
<
<
<
<framey> k then
<framey> you already got a fav tho
<UnConeD> ehehe
<
<framey> you know pak....this wont be your usual comment
<
<
<framey>
<framey> damn you
"<UnConeD> oh and I hate you too for installing in avs\pak 9 AVS 5 instead of avs\pak-9\pak-9 avs 5
<

'Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers'
The intro is really breaktaking... it really raises the bar for intros.
Most of the pack is fairly awesome but a few stand out as amazing presets to me. Namely Jet Wash, Droplets and Shooting Star. These three all have a really clearly defined style and mix low tech and hi tech effects to squeeze the most out of avs visually at more than reasonable framerates for the achieved effects.
Anyway, enough blab... dl this pack its awesome.

This pack suffers massivly from the tech over attractiveness virus though.
If it's your only goal to search for the limits of AVS, no wonder you claim AVS dead; every program has its limits.
If AVS was created better, somebody would climb up to that limit too.
I'm not saying that technical progression is bad - of course not - It's just that even after all the effort you've put into it, I just don't think most of these presets are so attractive to the everyday winamp user who just likes to see pretty moving colours (AKA not-artist).
a
Nonetheless a great pack, my favourite presets:
Fabric3
Elementary
Beanies
AVSBlox
JetWash
AVSBlox
Divisions rmx
...Did I mention AVSBlox?
Well, I think I can stop with creating my own version of tetris in avs now
